Molly Douglas is the starting quarterback for the girl’s flag football team, and she’s always aspired to play flag football since she heard about it in 8th grade.

Douglas is a junior and a multi-sport Varsity athlete playing softball, basketball, and flag football. Douglas had been a starter all three of her years on Varsity basketball and softball.
Douglas enjoys being the star quarterback for Valley Christian’s flag football team because she likes being the leader on the field when on offense. Molly said, “I get to be involved in every play on offense,” and “[She] gets to be able to throw to [her] friends and people that she had been friends with for three to four years now and get to see them score and celebrate together.”
The biggest point that Molly had learned on this team was “ that you really have to have fun playing the game,” especially being the starting quarterback there is a lot of pressure on her when the team is on offense.
The girls flag football team finished league with a record of 13-6 and 2nd in the San Joaquin League. Considering that the program just started up again after an absence of three years, the strong finish is impressive.
Douglas started 16 out of the 19 games for Valley Christian’s flag football team, and has a total of 3996 total yards and 49 touchdown passes. She also averaged 249.8 yards per game and .645 completion rate.
Douglas goes through challenges everyday with the serious back injury she experienced last year, but continuing playing the sports she loves. Now that she has gotten used to her body and knows when to stop and how to take care of her body, she works on taking time off to rest and stretching more before games and practices. But unfortunately even with the stretching, her injury still bothers her especially when she throws.
Valley Christian’s flag football team is now going into the semi-finals and Douglas played a big part of these wins leading the team into the CIF division 4 semi-finals.
“I was not expecting that [her] and the team was going to go this deep within the season because it is a new sport overall and it had been new to the girls too.”
“[She] is beyond happy to see where the team is going to go,” and she believes that team has a championship in them.
