Count To 1,000: How Tessa Got to Where She Is Today

Playing since she was seven, Tessa Dobmeier recently made the crowd go wild by claiming her 1,000th kill at a Valley Christian home game versus Wilson High School on August 27, 2026.

Tessa has been surrounded by volleyball her entire life, with her whole family participating in the sport. Since volleyball was a prominent activity in her familial life, she started her journey when she was just seven years old, and took up club volleyball at age nine. For Tessa, volleyball was an easy choice. She loves the team aspect, the competition, and the all around fun nature of the sport.

For Tessa, her sister was a big reason for her start with volleyball. At the time, Tessa’s sister was playing high school volleyball and it was very intriguing to her. Tessa says that her sister was a “cool girl for her” and that made her want to play too, just like her sister.

Tessa’s biggest supporters have always been her mom and her grandpa. They both show up to every game and stay very involved with her journey. Doing the most for her, she always has her biggest fans rooting for her at every game!

Tessa plans to continue her career in volleyball, and play in college at Liberty University in Virginia, where she’s already committed to playing in division one.

For Tessa, her pre-game routine is simple, but meaningful. She always says a prayer to keep her safe and remind her to play for the right reasons, to glorify God in what she does. Another thing Tessa likes to do is make sure she’s off her phone and connecting with her team because the connection helps her with her game and the chemistry of her team. A big thing in Tessa’s volleyball career is that she recently hit her 1,000th kill. When asked about her experience, she shared that leading up to it she knew it was coming soon, but did not know exactly when to anticipate it. She felt overjoyed and said that with her team surrounding, “it was a beautiful moment.” Tessa’s heart felt very full in this wholesome second, definitely becoming a memory she will cherish forever.

Finally, when asked to share any final thoughts Tessa encourages her fans to “play volleyball!”
